UCR is very proud to offer on-site interactive learning and community- based programs!  These skill building classes for all adults take place at various locations in our community. The activities provide access and supports to achieve skills development, acquisition and independence to gain complete community integration.

These programs: promote positive growth opportunities, skills development and maintenance working towards;

All skill levels accepted, no personal hygiene care provided. Minimal behaviors will require caregivers/staff. 

Learners will be practicing the following life-skills in an integrated environment:

• Social skills development and team work.
• Dusting using a swiffer mop
• Picking up items on the floor 
• Organizing and matching by size
• Folding clothes 
• Buttoning and zippering clothes  
• Staying in designated area
• Using appropriate voice level for indoors
• Exhibiting appropriate social behaviors (no dancing or singing)
• Not using your cell phone while doing tasks
• Soft skills development
• Independent problem solving
• ​Advocacy

Meghan Jones Scholarship fund
was established in 2025 to support those seeking UCR's independence building and life skills programming. As a founding member of UCR, Meghan lived and worked independently! We are happy to present this fund to assist students in need who want to follow in her footsteps to employment. Email Jenn Lynn if you are in need of a scholarship.

To have more success and gain reimbursement from DDA, these programs will fall under Community Development Services. 
These programs are performed in a fully integrated and inclusive environment and reinforce critical life-skills like; creative & critical thinking, executive function, effective communication, stamina, endurance and continued physical movement.
