We are thrilled with the popularity of our WORKS programs.
In order to provide participants with individualized hands-on support from the UCR team and instructors space is limited. Due to the high demand for the Works programs, participants may only attend one WORKS program at a time. |
Session starts Oct. 16, 2024 Cost: $250 6 classes UCR WORKS: Farming with The Hines Garden will teach your loved one skills to work in a real farm-to-table farm setting. Attendees will be taught several skills and practice them throughout the session, while learning about other aspects of farming and healthy lifestyles. **Upon completion of the program, if an attendee wants to have an interview, they could possibly be hired to work on the farm! This is the ultimate internship and job training opportunity. ** This inclusive program takes place at the Hines Garden at 18500 Muncaster Road in Derwood. Is lead by the experienced staff as well as experienced UCR special educators. |

Our WORKS staff is prepared to build work skills in all our WORKS classes, related to, but not limited to:
● Feed Chickens ● Wash Bins ● Clean up Grounds ● Weed Gardens ● Harvest Vegetables ● Wash Vegetables ● Bundle Vegetables ● Pack Vegetables into Containers ● Spread Mulch ● Prepare Beds for Planting ● Set up Vegetable Display ● Unload Plants ● Set up Fall Display ● Other tasks as needed on the farm |
Are you the perfect Candidate?
Do not sign up if your loved one cannot tolerate being in the elements: heat, rain, sunshine, humidity, mud and/or dirt! Must be able to get dirty Navigate wet, muddy and sometimes slippery surfaces Must follow instructions in a 1:3 setting Must have reliable transportation to/from work site in Derwood Must be able to tolerate working outdoors, in the elements, for 2 hours Positive attitude Team work driven |
