We intend to open programming in September 2021.
Board of Director's Statement
Dear Members of our Community:
The Board of Directors has reviewed information from multiple sources and has debated how best to meet the needs of our family members in a way that protects the health and safety of everyone who is involved with UCR programs and activities.
We have decided that the safest approach to reopening, especially with the resumption of our programs this fall, is to require that all staff, volunteers, contractors, and members be fully vaccinated. It will be necessary to provide proof of full vaccination prior to the first program you attend. Rest assured all active UCR Team members are vaccinated, as well as every member of the Board.
We also require that masks be worn by all present at any program, class or function. This requirement of mask wearing seems to change frequently and we will adjust this policy as needed. We will follow the CDC guidelines or Montgomery County requirements, whichever is more stringent.
This is difficult. Everyone of us yearns for a return to what seemed to be normal before the pandemic changed the world. The good news is that UCR is here, has survived the pandemic, has been able to provide virtual programming for more than a year and is now reopening safely.
For vaccines, testing or boosters St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Gaithersburg has you covered. Click here for information!
Contact Montgomery County or Independence Now to get your vaccination.
Montgomery and Prince George's County residents with disabilities can also contact Independence Now's COVID Coordinator, Serena Jaros, for assistance scheduling your vaccine. Contact her at 240-898-2181 or send an email sjaros@innow.org
**More and more vaccines are in production and being manufactured as quickly as possible.

SOCIAL STORY
The COVID Virus has spread across the state.
Many people are becoming very ill.
Some people have to go to the hospital to get specialized care.
Most people will survive the virus.
Some people could die from this virus.
We could help stop the virus by staying away from our friends.
We all need to stay home to stay healthy and save our friends' lives.
The longer we stay home, the quicker we can stop this virus.
We do not know how long this will last and that makes us have many strong feelings.
We might feel anxious, tired, sad, worried or bored.
All of our friends and family feel that way too.
We need to use our powerful brains and imagination to come up with fun things to do.
We can take walks outside, use our computers to learn new things and text or call our friends on the phone.
We will all be ok when we are safe.
We will come back stronger and better than ever before.
